Pack 99 Always Has a Good Time

Klondike Derby

Last year, the Webelos II made a great showing in this year’s Klondike Derby that took place at Tyler Park in February.  The Pack 99 Webelos II won 3rd place in the competition among all the packs within the Playwicki District.  Congratulations to all the scouts who participated.

 

What is a Klondike Derby?  This is a Webelos event loosely based on the Klondike gold rush.   The event is a run in conjunction with the Scout Klondike Derby and the Webelos Patrol will be asked to assist in preparing a sled with their patrol or Den using the supply list.  On the day of the event the boys will participate in activities highlighting the skills they have learned as Webelos.  The focus of the stations will be on working together.  Each station the Patrol encounters will have a clear set of directions and the stations master will award “nuggets.”  After the lunch provided, the day will end with a race – the Rush for the Gold! Trophies will be awarded to the top 4 patrols in each division.

 

It should be noted any Webelos Scout I or II may compete as a member of a team.
