Dear Parents and Scouts of Pack 99, I wanted to thank everyone again for the slideshow and plaque given to me last night. I wish I would have been more eloquent last night when thanking all the leaders and the scouts for the memories that I have from serving your children. I could not have done it without a strong leadership team behind me who made my job easy. I especially want to thank Mike Phillips for putting the slideshow together and to George Stockburger who agreed to be my sidekick a few years ago but has put much more effort than I ever meant for him to while making sure that I had everything I needed for each meeting. It’s easy to lose focus of the whole purpose of why I have done this year after year, but when you all made me pause to think back and look down at the large group of scouts in front of me, I was overwhelmed by the thought of having a small influence on each of the scouts there and the groups of scouts that had come before them. I will see you all again at the Memorial Day parade and at the Crossover Ceremony in June. I also thank Tony for stepping up to be the Cubmaster. I know he will do a fantastic job and come up with new ideas to keep the pack vibrant. Yours in Scouting, Steve Matz P.S. I would also like to thank Colonial Farms again for providing the cake last night. |
